Reviews for Homie Recipe
Review highlights
Based on 270 reviewsHomie Recipe is widely recognized for its authentic local and Chinese cuisine, especially its signature Hakka Pan Mee and flavorful soup bases. Customers frequently praise the friendly and hospitable service, highlighting the welcoming atmosphere created by the owner. The restaurant's quick service makes it an ideal spot for a convenient yet satisfying meal, although it tends to get busy during peak hours, prompting early visits or short queues. Notably, the menu offers appealing options for vegetarians, such as the mushroom-based pan mee soup. Drinks like the barley soya and jasmine tea complement the dining experience well. While the ambiance is cozy, some diners mention it can get warm inside, but this minor downside does not detract from the overall positive impression.
Very nice food and love the hospitality of the lady boss.Highly recommend if you're looking for delicious local food to fill your stomach real quick.Oh, and the barley soya drink is a must-try.
I enjoyed lunch here. Great food, quick and easy. The only problem, tonnes of people if you late. So be early if you want to dine in. If not gotta queue for it, which also very quick one. So, take time & enjoy the food nicely. It's a Hakka noodle dish, especially in central and southern part of Malaysia where most Hakka people or ke jia ren (客家人) reside. Hakka Pan Mee is made with a simple flour-based dough, with anchovy broth, and topped with crispy fried anchovies, ground pork, shiitake mushrooms, and some vegetables.
I found the restaurant by chance. I was walking around Nu Sentral looking for breakfast and saw a unique restaurant here that sells Chinese cuisine, Panmee. The boss is very friendly and advise me to give it a try because her food is unique. Of course I’d try. I ordered the panmee soup to test the soup base (which is also the skill in making good soup). It has the natural sweetness from anchovies unlikely many soup base out there that’s just salty. The ingredient in the noodle is generous. The fried anchovies are freshly made and crispy. The meat is chicken meat as I understand the shops here don’t serve pork. Maybe can consider bigger slices so that we can dipped into the unique sauce provided (normally other panmee shop use sambal belacan). One of the most important things to talk about is the noodle, I ordered the thin type (not sure what’s the right way to name it, it’s “pluck” method) as recommended by the boss. Its size is good enough to fit the spoon. Thin but not too thin until it breaks, just right thickness. I finished the soup in the end, I felt safe to drink all of it and it’s nice to make me want to finish it. Didn’t feel one bit of thirsty after drinking it.I order one side dish, it is freshly made and crispy. Boss told me I’d like it and she’s right. It really is nice. Very confident.Food taste: 9/10 (unique panmee)Food portion: 9/10Service: 9.5/10 (how can it not be good when the boss actively engaging with the customers to find out how they feel and talking to them.Environment: 8/10 it’s comfortable enough, within the mall.Cleanliness: 9/10 it’s clean, nothing to comment.Price: Between RM15 to RM25 (if add sides and drinks), affordable and if I work nearby I’d come eat most of the time.Recommended to try and I’ll visit again when I got another chance.
Must order soup! Must order jasmine tea! (if you like real aromatic Chinese tea!) why atmosphere is not 5 star? Cause it's a lil hot in here hahahhahaha
Glad to find a vegetarian option - veggie and mushroom pan Mee soup. The soup is made of mushroom stock and had plenty of mushrooms. Service was fast in the morning. The soup was very satisfying. Recommended Update 2024 - look at the amount of coriander!
Best Pan mee in KL. Local food. Chinese restaurant with muslim friendly food (halal). The is source, cili, oolong tea are the best
Visited this restaurant and tried their pan mee—the noodles were incredibly smooth and tasted superb! Each bite was packed with flavor, making it a truly enjoyable meal. The service was also top-notch. A warm and friendly Chinese lady, made us feel right at home. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality elevated the whole dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious noodles and excellent service!
Food is 10/10. Satisfied my craving for panmee! The food is served hot and it only takes 10 mins to be served. Portion is generous. The shop is located at the end of the lot. It’s really quiet and ambient.
